Colearna is An OMO co-learning platform for Taiwan’s K–12 supplementary education market. It connects homeschooling families and parents seeking after-school options with independent educators and creative courses beyond the traditional school model. It gives children more ways to explore their interests, learn at their own pace, and build the curiosity and independence they’ll need for the future.

The challenge

Homeschooling families and parents looking for after-school activities often had limited ways to discover learning beyond conventional academic tutoring. Course information was scattered across different channels, making it difficult to compare options and find the right fit for each child.

Independent educators faced the other side of the problem: they struggled to reach families and had to manage bookings, payments, and communication on their own. The result was a fragmented learning landscape, with families, educators, and opportunities disconnected from one another.

Colearna set out to build a more connected and sustainable education ecosystem—one where families could find diverse, child-centred learning, educators could share their expertise, and children could follow their curiosity.

The approach

We built Colearna around intrinsic motivation: children learn best when curiosity leads the way. Our guiding question was: What if learning opened a world beyond your own?

Inspired by “no one is an island,” the identity uses island-like forms to represent people coming together to create a connected learning community. Vibrant colours, hand-drawn everyday objects, and a warm, approachable tone make education feel less formal and more inviting.

I led the work across brand strategy, visual identity, product experience, course curation, teacher onboarding, UI/UX, and digital marketing. Clear interfaces helped families discover and book courses, while practical backend tools helped educators manage their offerings and bookings—bringing both sides of the ecosystem together.

I also curated more than 100 online courses in art, Orff music, picture-book drama, philosophy, STEAM, and social-emotional learning (SEL). SEL was central to Colearna’s vision, supporting children’s self-awareness, emotional skills, and relationships alongside academic and creative learning. To strengthen connections with families, I developed a pay-what-you-want seminar series on parenting and child psychology.

The impact

Over 18 months, Colearna grew into a community of 50+ teachers and more than 320 families, with 200 courses listed. The platform partnered with The Chinese University of Hong Kong Alumni Charity Foundation to deliver a bilingual SEL programme for children in Hong Kong. Colearna was also nominated and selected for Social Innovation Lab Taiwan.
